Miscellaneous Services

"Doc" can provide many different types of miniature horse services to supplement your involvement in the care of your horses.

Trauma and Abuse Recovery

None of us like it but we know that there are horses out there that have been traumatized and abused. When you have a traumatized horse on your farm it becomes very difficult, if not impossible, to do -anything- to the horse. Catching the horse in the pasture is generally impossible, and even in a stall it is dangerous for you and the horse. You usually can't even perform normal activities that are essential to the horses well-being such as worming, vaccinations, hoof trimming and grooming.

Alice has the "Horse Whisperer" touch in getting traumatized horses to trust her. Many times that is all that it takes - trust- for an otherwise good horse to overcome its fear of people. Alice has had no training in this... it comes naturally to her... and you can see it in the way that even non-traumatized horses react to her.

Call Alice if you have a horse that has been traumatized or abused. If Alice can't bring out the trust in the horse again then it is probably too far ingrained in the horses behavior to overcome. For a testimonial on Alice's skill at trauma and abuse recovery read the story about Sunny.

Precious (left) and Judy, a big paint walking horse.  Judy, a rescued walker/paint that didn't make it due to neglect prior to seizure.  She was put down 5/6/04.

Precious and Judy became best buddies!  Judy was seized because of severe weight loss and a leg injury. It was discovered that a wire had become embedded in her left back leg. If it had been removed right after injury, it would have healed.

Corrective Procedures for Leg Problems in Foals

It is a fact that many miniature foals have leg and hoof problems when they are born. It may be lax or constricted tendons or a more serious structural problem with the leg or hoof. If early corrective measures are taken these problems can usually be overcome. But, to be successful, corrective actions must be taken early in the foals life. By the time the foal is 18 months old it is usually too late to make any major improvements in the legs and hoofs.

"Doc" looks at these leg problems as being individual challenges. It takes skill and determination to permanently correct leg problems. And there is no cookie cutter approach - each horse - and usually each leg - requires a custom corrective approach that must be adjusted as the leg problems improve.

Call Alice today to look at your foals legs and discuss a customized plan for straightening its legs.

Special Hoof Care for Dwarfs

Dwarfs are a fact of life with the miniature horse breed. They commonly have leg and hoof problems that require corrective measures for their entire life. Their leg and body structure just isn't like a normal miniature horse and they require individualized hoof care.

"Doc" understands leg and hoof structures and how various hoof trimming techniques can be used to offset the deformities in dwarfs. Contact Alice and have her evaluate at your dwarf and provide a recommendation on hoof care.

Horse Hauling

"Doc" can haul your horses for you to shows, auctions, or to a new buyer of your horse. Give us a call to provide you with a quote for your hauling needs.

Grooming

Alice can groom your horse (or your entire herd!) for show, sale or for the pasture. Grooming can be a very time consuming process when you have to wash, dry and body clip a horse. Even just a "clean-up" grooming job where you clip the bridle path, trim the ear hairs and "shave" the muzzle can be difficult to work into your busy schedule.

Alice's "Horse Whisperer" approach to horses enables her to groom even the most difficult of horses. It may take her a little longer but she can get the job done. This approach is also very important with young foals. She can make grooming an enjoyable experience for them so that they do not fight it for the rest of their lives. It is very important to make a foals first few body clippings pleasurable so that they do not become difficult to groom. Let Alice groom them without the need for a twitch.

Let Alice help you keep your herd looking good and show your pride in your horses to every visitor to your farm. Call Alice for a quote on your grooming needs today.

Worming

Alice can worm  your horses at the same time that she is trimming their hoofs. Build this service into your normal hoof trim maintenance plans and never worry about having to worm your horses again. Many horse owners do not like to worm their horses and always call the vet for this service. Now you have an option that can save you a substantial amount of money. If you prefer, Alice can even provide the wormer so that you don't have to worry about having them on-hand when she arrives at your farm.

Consignment Sales

If you have a horse that you would like to sell but are unable to get the traffic needed at your farm or find it difficult to leave your day job to meet a potential buyer, then having Alice sell your horse on consignment may be just what you need.

Contact Alice today to discuss her consignment sales service. She can sell your horse for a sales commission that is a percentage of the sales price.

Training

Alice can train your horse for cart driving, harness racing, showing, jumping, or basic halter breaking and leading for foals. Call Alice today to discuss your training needs.
